Soccer World Cup fever was back for a day as everyone in cape town turned out to watch the demolition of the Athlone cooling towers.
Unfortunately, I had to basically shoot from the hip, since the man with the big red button was a bit over-enthusiastic and blew the charges 3 minutes early.
I had this composition and moody vibe in my head when I took the picture, but I had a feeling it wouldn’t work, so, imagine my suprise when it did (at least, I think it did).
I don’t want to be one of those people, but seriously, it looks way better when viewed large.
I am not terribly impressed with this picture, but I haven't shared anything in so long, I thought I may as well post it. It's all a big internet fad at the moment to make life size things look like miniatures with tilt-shift techniques, but I am much more interested in making tiny scenes look life sized, which is what I was trying to do here. In retrospect, I don't think I should have included the foliage, it just clutters the composition.
