I haven’t had anything decent to post for a while (or even anything indecent for that matter), and I still don’t. Rather than boring you with some terrible snapshot or other, I share with you two of my favourite phlogs.

Alfie Goodrich, Photographer in Japan is highly inspirational to me, he has an incredible style which is instantly recognisable no matter whether he is doing macro, street or architecture. I find his trademark shallow depth-of-field street photos mindblowing. Shooting strangers is something I find really tricky and he does it in low light too which is a current fascination of mine. On a side note, his website is a pleasure to use.

Brian Matiash exclusively does HDR work, but don’t crucify him yet. I am not a fan of the style in general, but that is like saying I’m not a fan of wax crayons, just because most of the world can’t use them to produce masterpieces doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Brian has way more hits than misses and some of the hits are truly beautiful.

    Hello,
I’ve been following your blog and want to thank you for your great content.

Because of this post concerning “Inspirational Phlogs,” I thought you would be very interested in Indego Africa, an innovative nonprofit social enterprise helping women in Rwanda lift themselves out of poverty with fair trade handicrafts and long-term skills. We recently launched a unique line of Tripod Bags that your readers might really enjoy (sold on our webshop at http://shop.indegoafrica.org/collections/tripod-bag). These fantastic bags are handcrafted from Dutch wax cloth and feature gorgeous African patterns, padding for protection, and a drawstring closure for easy accessibility. 100% of profits are returned to the artisans for training in business management, entrepreneurship, computer skills, and literacy.

You might also enjoy the compelling photography by Indego Africa’s Senior VP, Ben Stone. His collections, which won the the 2010 Fair Trade Federation Photography Contest, focus on the vibrancy and hope of our remarkable artisan partners in Rwanda. His photos have been exhibited in NYC, Chicago, DC and San Francisco and featured in the April 2010 edition of Food & Wine Magazine. For some “best of” examples, please see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/indegoafrica/sets/72157624168117559/show/. Please let me know if you’d like more information about Ben’s photography or would like to feature some of his shots. We love to share great images!

To learn more about Indego Africa, please visit our website http://www.indegoafrica.org. Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!
    Best,
