Handheld with my trusty old Minolta at 1/135, f3.5, winding AGFA 100. I’m still amazed that it actually came out sharpish.
Francois is a bit of an institution in Fish Hoek. I can take or leave their food, but now that their sign reminds me of an Asian action movie, their stock has gone up a point in my book.

I love the motion in this picture, and of course, the fact that the trike is so brilliantly Mad Max. 1/80th was just slow enough to get blur in the wheels, while keeping Andrew sharp as a button.

The trick with pan shots is choosing shutter priority (or manual of course) for the right speed, and pre-focusing on the place where the action is going to be.  The most important thing though is the follow through. Don’t stop tracking the moment you click the shutter.

Extension tubes are great fun,  and by far the cheapest way to get into macro photography. They lend themselves to abstracts though, since you lose aperture control (Or you do with my tubes anyways, since they are literally just tubes with a thread on each end). The depth of field is no more than a couple of millimetres.
